Do I need a liquor license? Where can I get one?

Depending on where your event is located, the type of event, and how alcohol is served, you will most likely need a “Banquet” liquor license. With District Cocktail, we can take care of that for you, giving you more time to focus on what matters!

The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority reviews and provides all liquor licenses. If you would like us to take care of this for you, please allow for a 6-week window leading up to your event for us to acquire the license as these applications can take time to process (especially around the holiday and wedding seasons).

Is District Cocktail insured?

Yes, we are insured with a $100,000 Occurrence/$300,000 Aggregate general liability and liquor liability policy. As much as we want your event to go swimmingly without a single hitch, when alcohol is involved….it’s always a good idea to protect yourself and others prior to the event. While we are insured, it is the exclusive responsibility of the client to monitor excessive alcohol consumption of all guests and to ensure alternative transportation is available when and if necessary. We advise our clients to purchase private event insurance as well. This can be done quickly and easily here.

Does District Cocktail provide the alcohol?

Due to liability concerns, we require that our clients provide their own alcohol. We believe this also gives you full creative control over what you want to provide at your event. Our package options include the bartender/mixologist, bartending equipment, and portable bar. To help our clients, we’ve crafted packages here to help in deciding which of our services fit your special night. We are here to ensure your event goes smoothly and can assist you with stocking up for your event and recommend brands and products that fit exactly what you need

How do I book? Where do I get started?

That’s easy! Just review our package options here and select which option best fits your needs. We will hold an initial consultation call with you to discuss details and then reach back out with a quote. Then, we’ll write up an official invoice and service contract for your review. Finally, when the review process is finished, we’ll require a 50% deposit for the booking along with the signed agreement. All done!

What method of payments do you take?

We take cash, checks, or credit cards. All payments must be received at least 10 days prior to the event.

Do you put out tip jars?

Tips are an essential part of a bartenders wages. If clients prefer no tip jar to be put out, then a higher hourly rate is applied.

What kind of alcohol service policies do you have?

We take alcohol management and safety seriously. We DO NOT serve minors and are not held liable for any of your guests who may serve alcohol to minors. All guests must be able to provide a valid, legal ID in order to be served and to consume alcohol. Valid legal IDs include: a Driver’s License, Passport, State ID or a Military ID.

Only two drinks at a time may be served to one guest. If more drinks are requested, we may help the guest with serving the drinks to other guests directly.

We have the right to refuse service to anyone.

Our caterer provides a bar service already, why choose District Cocktail?

We specialize in custom cocktail and bartending services. We focus on what we do best so that you, your event planner, or your caterer can focus on what they do best. We provide simple cost-effective packages all while ensuring safety, security, and peace of mind for your special day.

Can you make custom event cocktails?

Of course! Custom specialty cocktails are what we do best. For a small fee, we can craft a recipe just for you or include your own recipe.

What time will you arrive to set up?

The bartender will usually arrive anytime between 45 minutes-2 hours prior to the start of the event. The arrival time also depends on the level of service provided and/or if a bar is being provided by us (allowing for build-up and break-down of the bar). Also plan on 30-90 minutes for clean-up.
